- What type of cards are supported by the Card Controls in the Ascend App?
All Ascend consumer and business debit and credit cards can be controlled using the card controls feature inside the Ascend app.
- What are Card Controls?
Card Controls allow you to set up rules for when a purchase should or should not go through on your debit and credit card(s). You can also place a temporary suspension on your card(s) in the event you cannot find them, then simply turn it off once it's back in your possession.
- How can I setup Card Controls in the Ascend App?
Log in to digital banking or the mobile app and select your credit card from the list of accounts, then click “Card Services.” Under this area, you’ll be able to disable or enable your credit card, request a new card, submit a travel notice, manage card alerts and card controls. All card alerts and notifications will be delivered to your phone number. If the phone number is unavailable, they will be sent to your email address.
To review your contact information in online banking, go to Menu>Settings>Profile. You will be able to see the primary/secondary emails on file, as well as, all phone numbers.
- How will I receive my alerts?
When signing up for, or updating, your alerts, choose your preferred delivery channel-text or email.
- When will I receive my alerts?
You should receive a text or email within minutes of a transaction being attempted.

For additional protections, ask about the options that could extend your protection to address a wide range of circumstances, giving you the reassurance of knowing you've taken steps to help secure your finances. Ask about Debt Protection when you apply for a loan. It's a small price to pay for peace of mind.
- What alerts are available for credit cards?
You can set alerts for locations, merchant types, transaction types and spend limits.
Location Alerts: To set a Location alert, login to online banking or the mobile app, select your credit card>Card Services>Advanced Card Alerts.
My Regions: Sends an alert when your credit card transaction occurs at an in-store merchant outside of the regions specified. To set, select Alert me when In-Store transactions occur outside my region and slide the bar to the right to activate, tap the Plus icon next to Add Region, search for your region and click “Add.” Up to 5 regions may be selected.
Ex. The cardholder selects Tennessee and Alabama as approved regions since they travel there frequently. A transaction takes place in California.
International: Sends an alert when a credit card transaction takes place at an in-store merchant outside the cardholder’s country of residence. To set, select Alert me when there are In-Store International transactions and slide the bar to the right to activate.
Ex. The cardholder lives in the US, but a transaction takes place in Great Britain.
Merchant Type Alerts: To set, select Alert me for these type(s) of merchant transactions and slide the bar to the right to activate and select the merchant type(s) you’d like to be alerted for, including: Department Store, Gas Station, Household, Restaurant, Age Restricted, Entertainment, Grocery, Personal Care, Travel, or Other.

Transaction Type Alerts: To set, select Alert me for these type(s) of transactions and slide the bar to the right to activate and select the transaction type(s) you’d like to be alerted for, including: In-Store, eCommerce, Mail/Phone Order, Auto Pay, ATM or Other.

Spend Limit Alerts: To set, select Alert me when I exceed the following spending limits and slide the bar to the right to active, set your limit by either transaction amount or per month amount and click save.
- What controls are available for credit cards?
Block/Unblock Card: This is a reversible process. Misplaced your card? Lock it and instantly block new purchases and cash advances, while allowing recurring transactions, payments, balance transfers and credits to continue without disruption.
Block International In-Store Transactions: When a credit card transaction takes place at an in-store merchant outside the cardholder’s country of residence, the transaction will be declined.
My Regions: Deny in-store transactions if merchant location is outside a selected region(s). Up to 5 regions may be selected. Transactions that occur outside your selected region(s) after turning on the control will be declined.
Merchant Control: Select the merchant types you would like to allow. Any merchant types you do not select after turning on the control will be declined.
Transaction Control: Select the transaction types you would like to allow. Any transaction types you do not select after turning on the control will be declined.
Spending Limits: Select the spending limits you would like to allow. Any amount over the spending limits you select after turning on the control will be declined.
