Ascend Federal Credit Union Opens New Murfreesboro Branch

Press Release | 05/26/17

Ascend Federal Credit Union’s new location at 2316 E. Main St. in Murfreesboro is now open to serve members.

This new facility replaces the credit union’s branch at 750 S. Church St. The final day of business at that branch was Friday, June 2.

“We’re dramatically expanding our service area at the Main Street branch,” Ascend President and CEO Caren Gabriel said. “With more than 10,000 square feet covering more than two acres, this new financial center is nearly twice the size of our Nashville-Charlotte Avenue and Mt. Juliet branches. It features a five-lane drive-up with four interactive tellers and an ATM. Plus, five more interactive tellers are located inside.”

In addition to the expanded member service areas, this facility is built to offer regional operations support.

“This new facility also gives us the most space we have outside our Corporate Headquarters for training,” Gabriel said. “Expanded training facilities for employees means better service for all Ascend members.”

At the corner of East Main and South Rutherford Boulevard, the new branch is conveniently located near the Middle Tennessee State University (MTSU) campus.

“The proximity to campus highlights our commitment to the faculty, staff, students, and alumni of the MTSU community,” Gabriel said. “As the exclusive credit union of Blue Raider Athletics and the exclusive presenting sponsor of MTSU Arts, Ascend is not just part of MTSU’s culture, but we are MTSU’s credit union.”

With more than $2 billion in assets and more than 170,000 members, Ascend is the largest credit union in Middle Tennessee and one of the largest federally chartered credit unions in the United States. The National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) selected Ascend as the 2015 Federal Credit Union of the Year. Ascend is federally insured by the NCUA.
