ASCEND ANNOUNCES THE ADDITION OF MORTGAGE LOAN ORIGINATORS

Ascend Federal Credit Union is aiming to streamline the mortgage process for its employees and members with the announcement of a new position.

“Because our Member Service Representatives have such a broad knowledge base of consumer lending, they often do not get the opportunity to develop expertise in mortgages,” Ascend Senior Vice President and Chief Operations Officer Matt Jernigan said. “So the addition of Mortgage Loan Originators gives our members access to a representative who specializes in mortgages and can efficiently assist with applications.”

Ascend’s Real Estate Department is headquartered at the Tullahoma financial center; however, Mortgage Loan Originators will be introduced to the credit union’s financial centers across Middle Tennessee in phases. The first phase will focus on the Rutherford County and Tullahoma area markets.

Ascend Assistant Vice President of Mortgage Lending Don Gilliam said making the Mortgage Loan Originators accessible at individual financial centers will further improve members’ experience with the application process.

“I am particularly excited because the addition of Mortgage Loan Originators will help us to start looking into offering additional mortgage products,” he said.

With $1.795 billion in assets and more than 150,000 members, Ascend is the largest credit union in Middle Tennessee and one of the largest federally chartered credit unions in the United States. The National Association of Federal Credit Unions (NAFCU) selected Ascend as the 2015 Federal Credit Union of the Year. Ascend is an equal opportunity lender and is federally insured by the NCUA. Membership is limited.
