ASCEND EMPLOYEE PHOTO CONTEST OFFICIAL RULES

NO PURCHASE IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR WIN. PURCHASING PRODUCTS OR SERVICES FROM ASCEND FEDERAL CREDIT UNION WILL NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING. EACH ENTRY HAS AN EQUAL CHANCE OF WINNING.

The "2020 Photo Calendar CONTEST" (Contest) begins at 12:00 AM Central Daylight Time (CDT) on September 23, 2019 and ends at 11:59:59 PM CDT (Entry Deadline) on October 13, 2019 (Contest Period). By entering this Contest, entrants accept and agree to be bound by these Official Rules. Contest void where prohibited by law.

WHO MAY ENTER: All Ascend employees!

WHAT TO ENTER:

Landscape/cityscape photos of Tennessee. Animals, plants and landscapes; geological or climatological features. Photos including recognizable people will not be accepted.

To be eligible, a photograph must have been shot by the entrant. The contestant certifies that he/she is the sole creator and copyright owner of the submitted photograph.

Cropped photos are eligible. We do not accept digitally or otherwise significantly enhanced or altered photos. Minor adjustments, including the removal of sensor dust or scratches on scans of negatives, dodging and burning, sharpening, contrast, toning, slight color adjustment and conversion to grayscale are acceptable. If the judges determine that a photographer has altered his or her photo, they reserve the right to disqualify it.

Similarly, entrants whose photos depict other people’s work (such as sculptures, statues, paintings, and other copyrightable works) must be prepared to provide a release from the rights holder to Ascend upon request. When photographing the work of others, it must be as an object in its environment and not a full-frame close-up of another person's creation. If the entrant is unable to provide all required releases, Ascend in its sole discretion reserves the right to disqualify the submission, seek to secure the required releases, or permit the submission to remain in the Contest.

Photos that violate or infringe upon another person's rights, including but not limited to copyright, are not eligible. Photos that contain sexually explicit, nude, obscene, violent or other objectionable or inappropriate content, as determined by Ascend in its sole discretion, are ineligible.

Ethics: Entrants must disclose the circumstances under which an image was captured as well as any instructions given to a subject. The welfare of a subject and its environment must be placed ahead of the desire to capture a photograph. Upon entering the contest, entrants certify that subjects were treated with respect and dignity, and that no people, wildlife or the environment were harmed in creating a photograph. If baiting was used to attract wildlife, or special equipment such as camera traps and drones used to capture the photograph, this must be disclosed. Live baiting of wildlife is not permitted.

HOW TO ENTER: Please submit photographs and requested information online through our website at ascend.org/employee-photo-calendar-contest. You may submit up to 3 photographs, but only one entered photo will be selected for calendar inclusion. Photographs must be landscape orientation, and submitted in .jpeg, .jpg or .tiff format, 2250x1750 at 200 PPI.

We do not accept photographs submitted through the mail and do not accept more than one contestant per e-mail address. High-quality scans of non-digital photographs are acceptable. Digital photographs should be taken at the highest resolution possible. Ascend may collect a photograph’s metadata upon entry.

Photographer will retain all rights to photograph submissions. By submitting your image(s), you grant Ascend Federal Credit Union limited rights to your photograph if you are the employee winner. Ascend Federal Credit union will be allowed to use the image to print the 2020 photo calendar, to use the photo to promote the current and future photo calendar competitions, and to use the photo in our quarterly newsletter. Any photograph reproduced will include a photographer credit as feasible. Ascend will not be required to pay any additional consideration or seek any additional approval in connection with such uses.

Judging Photo entries will be judged based on creativity, quality, originality, responsiveness to the prompt and overall impact. Ascend will select nine (9) winners. Ascend will notify winners via email. Photos will be selected by a committee of Ascend Federal Credit Union Employees to be printed in the 2020 Ascend Photo Calendar. The photos will be judged on good lighting, color, and composition. Photographer’s names will be hidden from the committee to prevent any potential conflicts of interest or bias.

PRIZE: Nine (9) winners will have their images featured on the back cover of the 2020 Ascend Photo Contest Calendar.

Notification of Winners. Winners will be notified via email within five days of the committee’s selections.
